Project 1

Module 1

In activity 1, I learned how to write basic programs to light up and control LEDs by studying the Arduino Uno, breadboards, and their connections. This included using resistors for circuit protection, writing code to make LEDs blink, and incorporating interactive design with buttons. Subsequently, in Activity 2, I connected various sensors via the Arduino Sensor Kit and interacted with ProtoPie to understand data acquisition and real-time visualization. In Activity 3, I combined sensor data with another interactive software (such as Touch Designer) to achieve visual interaction between physical actions and data.Through this process, I mastered the fundamental principles of combining hardware connections with software programming.

Activity 1

An arduino uno. The code for blinking the built-in LED on an Arduino board. Connecting arduino Uno to a breadboard with wires, but the indicator light did not light. A red LED light on a breadboard connected with wires and a resistor, powered by an Arduino and successfully illuminated. Connecting arduino Uno to a breadboard with wires, but the indicator light did not light.

Activity 2

A picture of Arduino Sensor Kit. Connecting Arduino Sensor Kit to Proto Pie. Connecting the phone to the lap top to display the data collected by the Arduino sensor kit as a simple software interface. Use the button to observe whether the Arduino sensor kit can collect data in real time and convert it to ProtoPie. Connect the Makey Makey to another program and observe whether visual feedback appears in the program when the Makey Makey circuit closes.

Activity 3

The code that connects the derivative and Arduino sensor kit was written on the PotSeedShield. After connected the derivative and Arduino sensor kit, the interface of derivative. By rotating the knob, the circle in the code zooms in and out, establishing an interactive action between the physical and digital worlds. By modifying the code, you can change the color of the circle used for demonstration. By modifying the code, you can change the shape of the circle used for demonstration.

Research Activity

WGSN Consumer Trend Research

For this activity, I selected climate-adaptive housing and AI emotional companion robots as my research subjects. Based on statistical data, I discovered that both designs have an exceptionally broad target audience.

The descriptions and summaries of climate-adaptive housing and AI emotional companions. The Unique Features and Representative Products of Climate-Adaptive Housing and AI Emotional Companions. During the selection process, the data I observed influenced my decision. I believe they represent either a significant existing problem or a prevailing societal viewpoint.

WGSN Personas Research

In this initiative, I researched two distinct groups: The Privacy Keepers and The Energisers. This included examining their preferences, habits, and pain points, as well as the age demographics they encompass.

A brief description of the characteristics of these two groups of people. The generational impact of these two personas. Based on the user personas' descriptions, I have summarized their behaviors, buying priorities, and actions.

HMI Research

Based on two technological trends, brainstorm potential issues and propose solutions (using HMI format). Subsequently, summarize the questions raised.

Potential Issues with These Two Technological Trends. Two HMI/HMW statements written for the two technology trends I selected. After completing the brainstorming session, use these five questions for self-reflection. Then further summarize and expand upon the research topics.

Project Path

During this activity, I engaged in preliminary thinking about the design direction for my next project. Key considerations included whether to focus on design or art, and whether to pursue independent or collaborative production. This activity served as a simple project proposal.

The choice of the path in next project.(Art) I prefer group assignments. Based on the technological trends studied and the chosen direction in this activity, two preliminary project concepts have emerged. However, specific implementation plans have yet to be finalized and require further discussion and confirmation with the team members.

Project 1 Concept

Project 1 Concept

I aim to explore the fusion of digital projection with physical interaction. While gathering inspiration, I noticed this design: using 3D projection animation to project the cooking process onto dinner plates, presenting it in an engaging way to create a more captivating sensory experience. I believe I can learn from its characteristics and apply them to my next project. For instance, its creativity—how it combines users' everyday actions with 2D animation, transforming mundane movements into something more engaging. Overall, I aim to create a design that uses digital projection to enhance users' sensory experiences, offering them a rich and immersive journey.

The inspiration for the next project's design direction. Using projection technology, the process of preparing meals is animated and displayed directly onto customers' plates. This transforms the entire experience into something fun and immersive.
